Transit Services for Ohio Statewide ITS Architecture Roles and Responsibilities

Stakeholder	Role and Responsibility
County and City Public Works Departments	Coordinate with County and City Transit Operators and with Regional Transit Authorities for transit signal priority.
County and City Transit Operators	Coordinate transit schedules with Regional Transit Authorities, particularly for transit connections at transit transfer points.
	Provide transit traveler information on paratransit vehicles.
	Provide a demand-responsive transit plan to users/travelers via customer information systems.
	Provide transit traveler information on fixed route transit vehicles.
	Provide automated dispatch and scheduling for the demand-responsive or paratransit system.
	Provide automated dispatch and scheduling for the fixed-route system.
	Provide transit security on transit vehicles through silent alarms and on-board video surveillance.
	Coordinate with County and City Public Works Departments and Ohio DOT for transit signal priority.
	Coordinate transit security incidents with County and City Public Safety Agencies.
	Provide operator instructions and receive schedule performance information from transit vehicles while in service.
Ohio Department of Transportation	Coordinate with County and City Transit Operators and with Regional Transit Authorities for transit signal priority.
Regional Transit Authorities	Coordinate with County and City Public Works Departments and Ohio DOT for traffic signal priority.
	Count the number of passengers entering and exiting a transit vehicle using sensors mounted on the vehicle and communicate the collected passenger data back to the operations center.
	Monitor transit facilities for safety and security purposes using video surveillance and through transit user activated alarms.
	Coordinate transit schedules with County and City Transit Operators and with Universities and Colleges, particularly for transit connections at transit transfer points.
	Provide transit passenger electronic fare payment capabilities on all transit vehicles.
	Provide smart card fare coordination with other regional transit agencies.
	Coordinate with multimodal transportation agencies, including Regional Airport Authorities.
	Provide a demand-responsive transit plan to users/travelers via customer information systems.
	Coordinate transit security incidents with County and City Public Safety Agencies.
	Provide automated transit maintenance scheduling through automated vehicle condition.
	Provide transit security on transit vehicles through silent alarms and on-board video surveillance.
	Provide operator instructions and receive schedule performance information from transit vehicles while in service.
	Provide automated dispatch and scheduling for the fixed-route system.
	Track the location of transit vehicles.
	Track and evaluate schedule performance on all fixed-route transit vehicles.
